So as I have previously insinuated, I did end up going school shopping. I had to do it all in town no less. I did end up ordering a pair of black/white tights, and a red skirt from American Apparel online, but they have not come yet. I also ordered a pair of charcoal herringbone tights from Forever 21, but I don't think that the order went through.
Anyways, the list of what I got for school is as follows:

So here, finally, is the long awaited post on my school shopping list. Except for the sad thing is, school starts in a week and a half, and I don't think I'll get to go shopping before then. I am probably going to get to go to the states to shop after school starts though. Also add to this list: the incessant pair of Converse hi-tops and the pair of Vans, which I haven't got around to getting yet. Anyways, here are some of the things I'm searching for:
A pair of lavender tights. I've already got a pair of blue tights, which might have to suffice. I also want to replace my pair of black tights, and get a pair of grey tights. Walmart would be a good candidate for this purchase, except for I vowed not to shop there, and therefore will have to give up the $3.95 deal.
A black Garage v-neck. Just a basic to add to my scanty collection. I also want to get a loose-fitting grey v-neck, but as I already have a grey v-neck, this is not a priority.
These boot things from Aldo. But only if they go on sale.
A pair of super skinny jeans, with either a light grey or an indigo wash. I also want to get a really dark pair and acid wash them.

A band t-shirt. Perferably System of a Down.
A cool belt buckle. Like this one.
A loose-fitting grey cardigan. Also I might get one in navy, as I lost my other navy one.
A nice jacket, perferably in black or grey. Or navy. Or beige maybe.
A pair of headphones. See other example below.Oh, and also a new ipod would be nice, but I might have to wait until Christmas for that.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! OH THE INSANITY!!!! IT'S HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

This morning, I went for a run, and when I arrived back at the house, I saw my seventeen magazine in the mail. Now I have been debating the, lets say panache, of Seventeen magazine ever since I started reading blogs. The style is usually just so... generic. I don't mind their taste in makeup, and hair, to an extent. I can't say I find any inspiring photos within its pages though. It's mostly filled up with American Eagle, Roxy, Billabong. Which I don't mind in small doses. There's the occasional comment, like, "Never wear floor length skirts," or this summer, "Try out the gladiator sandal." I mean, its not like hoards and hoards of the fashionable have been trying out the gladiator sandal for the last two years. But my Seventeen relationship seriously hit rock bottom when I pulled that magazine out of the mail box. On the cover was....
Miley Cyrus.
Or should I say Hannah Montana?
Come on! She is on the Disney Channel, for goodness sake! Preteens the world round worship her. This magazine is called Seventeen! Ment for seventeen year olds, almost adults. Is it right to find a preteen idol among the same pages that talk about birthcontrol, sex and STD? Things like this just make me sick.

Anyways, on a more lighter tone, here is the outfit I wore yesterday to go out and about. It is one of the vintage dresses I got from my friends mother. It usually goes past the knees, but I used the belt to hold it up. I also wore it backwards, because there is a tie in the front that I don't like.

Where Is My Romper?!

So rompers are the quintessential summer item right? Ever since I say Sally Jane Vintage pull them off impeccably, I have been searching for the perfect one. My first thought? Ebay of course! But since I have only chalked up the guts to buy something online once, I was a little bit adverse to purchasing something with no guarentees, that has been pre used. Plus there was shipping costs, which were sometimes excess of thirty dollars! So, due to a combination of wussiness, and cheapness, I decided to turn to the local economy shops. Mixed results ensued. I went to the new thrift store that had recently opend up, and asked if she had any rompers in stock. Now I thought that the owner was quite style savvy, but her response was, "Ummm, what's a romper?" I deftly explained that a romper was shorts and a shirt all in one, and she seemed to know what I was talking about after that, but sadly, had none in stock. So my next stop was the hospital auxilary, where I found not one, but two rompers! Sadly though both of the shorts were baggy, and the crotch was halfway down my thigh. Also, one had a skirt attached, and the other one was pink. Blehhgh. I know, I know, I could have fixed them up with a thread and needle, but I just know I would have messed it up. And after this incident, it seems that all the accidentally stylish old ladies have been rubbing it in my face. I have seen not one, but three old ladies in floral rompers! I am very jealous! Ah well, maybe this summer is just not the summer of rompers for me. Who knows though? I'll keep looking, and maybe I just might get lucky.

Sorry for my week long hiatus, I was out camping with my fam and friends. Good times, but didn't really involve anything fashion-y. Anyways, here is a picture of me wearing one of my hemmed skirts:

And also, do you remember this forlorn pair of mom shorts that I was debating over wearing to school? I didn't end up taking the plunge, but I did end up cutting the legs off to make the shorts into a skirt. It puffs out in the back a little bit, and is a tad short, but besides that, I think that I am really in love with it!

And here is a close up of all the necklaces I layered. It involves two home made necklaces, and the pendant and ring I got in Mexico, placed on chains.

So, this Thursday I was thrifting, and I found these awesome sunnies that look exactly like Wayfarers. The only problem is that they are very stained (the lenses look like gasoline) but I can still see through them. I also got a belt that goes around my waist for fifty cents, the same price as the sunglasses. It can replace my forlorn Lasenza Girl belt!

My grandparents are planning on having a garage sale soon, and I am gathering up some clothes to sell, as these usually make the most money. We are looking to have it sometime in September.

Also, look for a post on my back to school shopping plans soon, as I always start making a list at the beginning of August or something. I am planning on going down to Seattle to do some hardcore shopping, so updates soon.

So here are the skirts that my grandmother hemmed for me. I am also going to write down the total cost of the outfit, just because I am curious.

The Woes of Walmart.

So sorry I haven't posted in a while, but my internet was down for a week, and I had to wait until my dad got back for him to fix it. So anyways, I just finished a book, and it was called "The Walmart Effect." I bet you can guess what it's about. Yes, you guessed right, it's about the effects, seen and unseen, of Walmart on, well, everything. Let me just say, I thought I knew what Walmart was doing, but I wasn't even close. I can give you a brief synopsis here:
So we all know Walmart's motto right? Even if you've never shopped there (you liar!) we've all seen what the bags proclaim. "Always low prices" is their constant quip. But in this book, it explains how they get these low prices, and the effect these prices have on other businesses. First, one must understand that Walmart has alot of buying power. Walmart is the number one grocer in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, and the 2nd largest retailer in England. With this buying power, Walmart demands lower and lower prices from its sellers. Sellers have to meet these demands, or else they will lose their business with Walmart, which, in some cases, is worth 30% of the company.
There are many ways to "roll back" prices. One way is to downgrade the quality. Metal parts are replaced with plastic, so on and so forth. Soon though, the quality cannot be any lower. It is at this point that factories are moved overseas. Labour is cheaper in places like China, Mexico, and Bangladesh. This puts hundreds, if not thousands of people out of jobs. These factories are also very illegal. Most are actually illegal in the country they are in. They pay workers low, low wages. As one worker says, "not even enough to buy a toothbrush." They also beat workers. Another ex-worker says that, "if she didn't get enough work done in the hour, she would be beat with the pants she was sewing." To think, that your recent aquisition at Walmart might have been used to beat a woman. Factories have also been known to withhold paychecks, employ children, and refuse days off.
Also, back on the home front, when Walmart enters towns and cities, it causes many smaller businesses to close. This causes more people to lose their jobs. Another way that Walmart cuts back on money, is to pay their employees very low wages. The reason? The company doesn't make enough profit to justify a higher rate.
So this book greatly changed my prospective on Walmart. Though I am not going to vow to stop shopping there completely, I am going to be more concious of what I buy there, and how often I shop there.

Out With The Old.

So one of my really close friends moved away to the city last night:(. While cleaning her (incredibly messy) room out, she found these two things that she gave to me. There is this blue dress. It was a little (okay, maybe alot) small for me, but after copious amounts of wriggling, and turning the dress back to front, I managed to get into it. I don't know if the waist looks bad or not, like I'm bursting out of it or something. I thought it looked fine, but I am a biased judge. I liked the front though: it had a tie, which looked good either tied up or untied, as pictured here. Today, my grandmother came over to pick up the skirts I wanted her to hem. I gave her this dress to hem too, as I don't like the length. I'm going to hem it to just above the knee. I also decided that I am going to try to make my high waisted granny shorts into a skirt, all-be-it a short one. I think I can make do though.

I think my favourite ways are definately the last two, and I expecially like it as a skirt (yes, I know that was the way it was ment to be worn). Very sorry for the low quality photos though. I don't even have an excuse, that's how sorry I am.

Acid Wash Want

Ever since Ali Larter donned the Habitual Tie Dye skinny jeans in Teen Vogue, I have been lusting after a pair. Surprisingly, cheap pairs are in short supply. Inspired by Poppy Lee, I have decided to take it into my own hands. I don't think I dislike any of my jeans that bad to bleach them. I do have a pair of old grey ones, but they are not really skinny enough for my liking. I might have to resort to buying the cheapest pair I find, on forever21 or something. We shall see, but I think I would settle for a dark indigo wash, or maybe even dark dark grey. Whatever is cheapest is best.

Also, this is the getup I donned today. It is a little business like for me, but whatevs.

Braces+Oxfords=Geek in the Making!

So, to make a long story short, I got braces. But right now they are only on the bottom teeth; in another six months or so, I will get them put on the top teeth too. Not to complain, but they hurt like a kicked dog! I opted out for plain silver, because no one sees the bottom anyways, unless I happen to laugh obscenely, or grin maniacally, which happens rather more than one might think. I haven't decided which colour my top brackets, but I'm floating between three choices. I will either get silver, to play up the geek factor (like I don't do enough already), or a basic dark or light blue. I wanted to get green, but then I realized it would look like spinach permanently stuck in my teeth.
Also, I went thrifting for the first time in three weeks yesterday. Not much luck in the clothing viscinity, but I did get two cute pairs of shoes, a pair of red keds, and an awesome pair of nude oxfords!

On the fashion front, I have really been contemplating getting a pair of suspenders lately. But I don't know which section of the thrift store I would find them in. Probably the belt section I'm guessing. I have also been really interested in eighties graphic one piece bathing suits lately. But I'll have to find the PERFECT one before I buy one, because I just hate the idea of wearing other peoples bathing suits. I'll have to wash it like fifty gajillion times over.

Houston, We Have A Solution!

So, do you remember that floral Ricki's dress I got at the thrift store? For three dollars (oh the joy of small towns)? Well the only problem with it was that the neckline was baggy, but I have found a solution. I wore it backwards! Then I undid the zipper part way. It was inspired by a page in Seventeen, where a zip down dress was paired with a bathing suit ( I know, I know, shouldn't I be reading like, TeenVogue?). I quite like how it turned out though.

Vintage Inheritance and Mexico Purchases.

So here are the long awaited pictures of my friend's mom's vintage hand me downs. I am going to get my grandma to shorten most of the skirts, as I don't think I could pull off a floor length skirt in high school.

I've Hit The Motherload.

So I was at my friend's house yesterday, who is moving. Her mom came out, and she was like, " I found some old clothes while I was packing, any of you girls want any?" Little did I know that the clothes were authentic 70s and 80s! Also, my friend said her mom would sometimes spend over $200 on a skirt, so it was really high quality stuff. I found so much stuff!!! High waisted skirts, pencil skirts, high waisted shorts, and a dress. I am going to get my grandmother to shorten some of the skirts that I don't like the length of. I don't know if I will have time to take pictures of it all though, because I am leaving for a camping trip on Wednesday, I have an exam on Tuesday, and I leave for Mexico Friday morning for two weeks. This may be my last post for a while! I did manage to get one photo though, of the high waisted shorts.

What Not To Wear?

So since I don't get TLC on my tv, last night when I was over at my grandparents house, I decided to watch What Not To Wear. I always love that show, and I hadn't seen it in a really long time. I started watching it, and it was at the part where they have to look in the three hundred and sixty degree mirror. Their fashion victim this time was a women who was stuck in the eighties, and who hadn't bought new clothing in over twenty years. She put her first outfit on: a t shirt with a print of actual leopards on it, a black leather jacket, and super light wash skinny jeans. Stacy and Clinton went on and on about how the jeans were outdated, the shirt was tacky, the jacket was to hardcore. And all I could think was "That is an awesome outfit!" The next outfit was a beautiful eighties cocktail dress. Stacy and Clinton said that that dress should never even have left the box, but I marveled because I actually liked it. It was blue, sequin encrusted, short, and tight. As I look back, I realize how much my tastes have changed in the last few months. It hasn't really been that noticable until now. Like, a few months ago, I would have never even dreamed of tucking my shirt in. We shall see where the next few months bring me!

Thrift Shopping May Become A Regularity In My Life

So my friend and I went thrift shopping again. She found tonnes of stuff, but I didn't like half the stuff she bought. I found a white scarf, a grey and gold pendant that I put on a gold chain, a grey v neck, and a pair of dark blue Mavi jeans that I cut off into short shorts.

New Finds!

So finally! I got a day off, and me and my friend decided to go thrift shopping. Our first stop was at the hospital auxilary, or the Economy Shop. I found a brown scarf with flowers on it, and a floral dress. The dress doesn't fit at the top; the neckline is baggy, so I just wear a scarf over it. I also found the most awesome vest ever! It is grey, with velvet lapels and buttons, and it has a pattern of horses on it! I love it! I also found some Rayban-esque sunglasses for fifty cents. Then we went to this other store, called Centsible, and there I found a white cardigan for really cheap. There was also this pair of red cowboy boots, but I figured the money would be better spent on the cardigan. Our final stop was at a very newly opened store, Sunshine Vintage. They had some really good stuff in there, but by that time I had run out of money, so I didn't buy anything. But my friend found tonnes of records for her new found collection, like Pink Floyd, and Simon and Garfunkel. I also saw this box of trinkets, so I'm thinking maybe I'll go back there and look for a pendant to put at the end of a necklace.

School Shopping Already

So already, I have started school shopping. I know it's sad. This year isn't even over yet! But since I am saving to go to Italy next year, I will have to (gasp!) budget my money. So I looked at stores with largely cheap prices, like forever 21 and wet seal and the like. And also the vans store...

I was reading my new Seventeen magazine (yeah I know I'm lame), and in it it had instructions on how to do a side bun. I decided to try it. I liked it, but it needed something to spice it up. At first I went for the big blue fake flower that I had accidently stolen from the school musical. I liked it, even though it was a bit big and fake, but I figured I couldn't wear it to school in case of recognision. Than I remembered that a few years ago, I had bought this awesome hair clip. It had metal birds and feathers on it, and was very ethnic. But than I remembered that I had sold said hair clip at a garage sale for ten cents. So I had to make do with getting my pearl necklace, and wrapping it amidst a hairclip. It turned out not bad I think.

Grad Thoughts

So, last night, I went to Grad. I wasn't graduating, but I knew lots of people, so I wanted to watch. I figured maybe I would get a few ideas for my grad dress. I was very, very dissapointed. 89% of the grad dresses looked exactly the same. They were all strapless, with a poofy bottom, made of shiny satin, and encrusted in jewels. I also found out what I really don't like in prom dresses. I hate poofy dresses. I hate pink dresses. I hate sparkly dresses. A few were standouts: the girl who wore a strapless orange dress and turqoise necklace, gloves, and converse, a girl with a sleek red dress (her walking partner had matching converse!), a backless blue number, and a navy dress that was floor length, but after the knees was see through. So I decided to look up prom dress inspiration:

Recently, I was in the school library. Yeah I know, unimaginable right? I was quietly doing my work, of course, when I saw the book Memoirs of a Geisha staring out at me from the shelf. The cover was so tantalizing, that I just had to take it out. I read it within three days. It is a very good book,a nd I recommend it to anyone. It is very interesting to learn how, and why a geisha dresses and does her makeup the way she does. Anyways, reading the book inspired me to watch the movie. I was awed with the beauty of the girls, and also the costume and makeup:

I realize I am not very creative with my titles. They get the point across though. I am thinking of getting some extreme patterned leggings. They would be black and white for sure, I don't know if I could pull off the whole colour thing. Only one leg of patterns like the girl below would be even better!

I love the lipstick colour, it looks really awesome with the scarf.

I really enjoy clothing with little see through bits. Like I found this bathing suit, and it had a see through top part. It was black and I really liked it.

The Return of Work Wear

So I went shopping and ended up buying some things, but it was an extremely long hard journey. I ended up finding three pairs of black pants to choose from. First there were some ones at walmart. I didn't really like them, but they were pretty cheap, and I figured they might suffice until I find some good ones. Then there was a pair that I found a Hangers. They were tight'ish, and they were a little high waisted, which I thought would be interesting. Last of all, there was a pair of Dickies from Armitage. Actually two pairs of Dickies. There was a size 7 pair of skinny Dickies, which I really liked, but I believe they might have been a size too small. There was also a pair of said skinny Dickies in size 9. I actually really liked the fit of them, but they flared out at the hip, because they are meant to fit tight. I also questioned how skinny jeans would look with skate shoes, or metal toed boots as it goes. So I ended up getting the pants from walmart. I extremely regret this now, as I tried them on today to take pictures, and realized they are way to baggy, and about 5 inches too long.
For the white shirt, I searched everywhere. My final stop was walmart, and with a stroke of genius, I decided to look in the boys section. I tried on the biggest size, and it was perfect! Also my mother picked me up a white shirt from the second hand store, which I don't really like.

So I have procured a job at the local grocery store. The dress code is a white collared shirt, black pants (not jeans) and black shoes. This seems okay. I have been wanting to get a white shirt for ages, so this is just a good excuse. I will look at Walmart maybe, or Rickis to get something for cheap. I want just a simple white shirt, with pockets maybe, and just the right amount of baggyness. For the pants, I'm thinking a pair of skinny black Dickies would do the job, or a pair of loose dress pants. The only black pair of pants I have at the moment are my lululemon yoga pants. I don't know if I will be able to wear those, but they are very nice. For the shoes, first I considered getting an all black pair of Converse. But I figured if I was going to spend that much on shoes, might as well get the colourful crazy kind of Converse I have been craving for ages (tie dye anyone?). Than I realized that I have a black pair of shoes from DC Shoe Co. They have a pink DC sign on them, so I figured I could colour over that in Sharpie. They are skate shoes, so I don't know how they will look with skinny jeans, but they are the best that I have at the moment.

I decided to take all of my skirts, the old ones that my grandmother made me in grade two I think, and re model them. Since I didn't really want to sew at all, this re-modeling mostly involved rolling up the hem. The hem was a bit bulgy, but it still looked pretty good, I thought. I also tried tucking my shirt in, which worked out quite nicely. I tucked the same shirt into my Levi jeans and a belt, and they looked really good, so I think I shall wear that sometime.

Lately I've been seeing bloggers donning the Minnetonka boot. I have always been a boot fan, but don't get to exercise it much. I really like the fringe on these boots, and a pair of ankle booties would be nice. I've seen one girl wearing this kind of boot, but I'm pretty sure they weren't the real thing. Even though I am not usually a fan of bows (actually, i usually absolutely hate them), this Wunderkind dress caught my eye, with it's flashy colours and fabric:

I have decided that I want a Versace prom dress. Donatella Versace is a dress genius, but maybe I shouldn't state the obvious. Since I will graduate in 2 years, maybe if I start saving now, by that time I'll have the money saved up.

Love the colour. Strapless dresses always get me in the end, even though I know that if I attempt to wear one, it will fall down.

Today at school, I saw this girl I know wearing white patent leather sandals. I really liked them, so I told her so. And then she was like, "Yeah, they were inspired by you." I was like, "Really?" Than she said no, actually her mom had bought them for her at a store called Urban Wax in the city, and she really liked them. They reminded her of my gladiators. Also, maybe someone else has picked up on my vibe? Because I saw another girl wearing sandals from Aldo ( I saw them there), which were not really remotely simular to my shoes, but have the same idea. Since I was the first gladiator wearer in my school, I feel responsible for the launch of this trend (haha, I wish).

This week was horrible. Every day I looked at the weather forecast, which always professed sunnyness and niceness for that day. But the next morning when I wake up, grey clouds dominate the sky. So my outfits are a bit reflective of this. Anyways, here are some outfits utilizing the new scarf:

So this is the a skirt something like I'm lusting after. And worn by the incredible Agyness. I love the pattern! Very tribal.

I love the casual laid back ness of this outfit. I should dress like this more often. No patterns, no layers, just a plain grey shirt and a jean skirt.

Another example of simpleness. This girl is so beautiful, the simpleness of the outfit just brings it out.

I love this outfit! The bottom is so hardcore, but is balanced out with the 9-5 blazer and the strict work bun.

While I was at Old Navy, I decided to take a look-see in the children's section. Most was undersized, and extremely immature, but I did see an awesome black romper with a halter neck. The Wonders of Cheap Accesories

So my trip to the city was quite fun. I bought the two main things I needed to buy, a hat and flip flops, and I got a bunch of other accesories too. I'm sad though, because there was so many other things I would have bought, but I didn't have enough money. My friend took me into an R and W store for the first time, and I saw this really cute mettalic miniature trench, but it was a hundred dollars, which is way out of my current price limit. There was also a pair of teal skinny jeans for twenty bucks, but sadly, they were too small. Very sadly. Anyways, this is what I did buy:

Don't mind this horrible outfit, but I wanted to post something. This morning, I was going to wear my glasses, and had an outfit all planned out according, but than I realized that I had PE today. So I accordingly put my contacts in, which somehow seemed to take up all of my time. By the time that was over, I only had time to pick up some random stuff off my floor and throw it on. Note the fact that I'm not wearing skinny jeans. This only happens about five times a year, so enjoy. The scarf was one I won in a raffle at a gymnastics competition.

I have been thinking how much I want a grey cardigan. I know that you can find good ones at Urban Outfitters, and American Apparel, and as I am going away soon, I shall look for one. I love the way the two people below button up their cardigans. Maybe I shall try this?

Fashion Is Timeless

So I've always thought of old people in an unfashionable sense right? But the other day, I went to church, and I really couldn't believe what I saw there! The old lady across from me was wearing a red checked lumberjack shirt, simular to the one I've coveted at Sally Jane Vintage. The old man behind me was wearing leather moccasins with a fringe. And the lady to my left was wearing black oxfords! Another one of the ladies was wearing the exact pair of white lace up Keds that I want. Have they always dressed like this, or have I suddenly started noticing it all now? That remains to be seen. But I have learned (very cliche) not to judge a book by it's cover.

Friends Last Forever (21)

It had never really occured to me before, but after seeing a few bloggers' purchases there, I decided to take a look at the forever 21 website. I was really surprised by what I found there. My favourite things were the scarves, because they were so nice and cheap, but I also didn't mind the graphic print dresses. Actually they were tunics, so I don't know what that means for their length, but I'm short, so hopefully I could pull it off. The only thing that bothered me was, with prices so cheap, I would expect the quality to be pretty low. The seams would probably rip easily, or some stuff like that.

Usually I am not a big fan of pink. No, actually I usually despise it and haven't worn it in years. But I looked at this dress in orange, and it just wasn't the same effect.

This is to (cheaply) settle my love for tye dye without getting dirty.

I really liked this dress, because it is harder to find a nice dress with short sleeves.

An Epiphany

I have come to a realization! On Tuesday, I wore my new green dress to school. About halfway through the day, a girl asked me if I was wearing it backwards. I began to have a sneaking suspicion that that may be true, but I just shoke it off. Then, when I got home and was changing, I realized that the tag was in the front. So apparently the zipper goes at the back. Oh silly me. But I don't mind wearing it at the front though.

So, as I am going to the city in ummm, two weeks or so, I figured I may as well check out stuff now, while I have nothing else to do. Even though I have no money. At all. Oh my gosh these socks are sooo awesome. I could just imagine wearing them under my boots. I am in love! And they are only 6 bucks!

I quite like these jeans. I was meaning to buy coloured skinny jeans for a long time. Originally I was going to buy red. But I didn't really have anything that went with them. Then I see these ones. I absolutely love the colour, especially because I haven't seen it before, and they would go with tonnes of stuff in my wardrobe. Do you think it's to late to buy coloured skinnies? Is the trend already over?

West 49 has the cutest shirts. Like there was one I saw there once, with a cat puking, but it's puke was a bunch of little pink rabbits! If you can't see what the shirt says, the slogan underneath says "Wanna square dance?" and the speech bubble says "Sigh, I'm a cube."

So today, after gymnastics, I suggested to my mom that we go shopping. She had been pointing out how I have been greatly in need of a new skirt. So we went to a few local shops. Actually two. Two of the only good shops that my town has. I didn't even end up buying a skirt, but I did purchase two dresses. I also convinced my mother to stop at the second hand store. There I found some prettty cool stuff. There were these awesome acid wash high waisted skinny jeans, but sadly, they were too small for me. There was also a really cute denim dress, that I really regret not trying on (I'm sorry! There was only ten minutes until closing!). I ended up getting a vest. I recently had the urge to buy one, so this was the three fifty alternative. It fits a little bigger than I would have liked, but the back is cool see through lace. I think I might try putting it through the dryer to get that "shrunken look".

In English, we have to perform scenes from Romeo and Juliet with a twist. In my scene, Juliet is a little girl, which I play. For a prop, I used this backpack that I found at the back of a closet. It said my little brother's name on it, so I just covered that up with masking tape. But the thing is, English is only an excuse. I've secretly wanted to use this backpack at school for ages! I got quite a few compliments too.

Me and my friend really love the New Zealand comedy folk band Flight of the Conchords, so we decided to make a shirt with that paper that you print off the computer and then iron on. You can't see it very well here, but it turned out pretty good, even though it's starting to fade.

My Future Haircut

I have always known that eventually, someday, I will cut my hair short. I almost went for it back in January, but it didn't end up happening. Now with braces impending, I have decided to cut my hair short after I get them off. Seeing as I haven't even got them on yet, this will take quite a while. But at least the date is there! Until then I will probably grow it out. And maybe dye it red. Anyways, here is what I want my future hair to look like:

As well as being a gorgeous model, and having an amazing sense of style, Agyness Deyn also has awesome hair. I like the bottom two.

I like Keira's hair because the bangs are a little longer, and therefore can cover up any imperfections on my forhead. I also love her hair colour.

This is Mollie Sue, who was on America's Next Top Model a while ago. For her makeover, she got a really short pixie, which I love!

And then there is Natalie Portman, the epitome of short hair. This girl has proven that she can shave her head and still look good!

Okay, well I was contemplating my lack of clothing, and urge to buy something. I figured, if I am going to start thrifting, why not start in my own home? So I asked my mom if she had any old clothes she didn't want. She didn't, but apparently she passed the request onto my grandmother, who did. I don't know how much I'll be wearing them, but we shall see. Also, my grandfather (other side of the family) recently moved to an old age home, so we went through his house to see what we could find.

Here is what I found:

I just got an email titled, "Do You Think Your Shoes Are Uncomfortable?" It showcases shoes that are, apparently, all the rage in Japan. I wouldn't doubt it... Anyways, I just had to post them.

What Was Worn

Sorry for my lack of trying this week, but I had musical theatre performances (Fame!) for half the week, so I was super tired. Oh, and see the black cardigan? My little sister got it from her friend, and it was too big for her, so she gave it to me! It is from Le Chateau, so it must be rather expensive, for my price range anyways. I love free stuff!

These are my assorted collection of bracelets. They are all from different places, and were all gifts. They top one is from Kamloops, the next two are from Mexico, the fourth one is from Vietnam, and the last one is a gift from a friend. I also have a leather bracelet with Native beading from Alberta, but I couldn't find it.

The Thrifter: Accesories

I don't know if accesories has one s or two s's, but whatever. There are tonnes of different accesories that you can have; hats, bracelets, necklaces, headbands. But these are the definate must-haves of a thrifter.

The Sunglasses. Preferables aviators, or Wayfarers. Anything Ray-Ban will do. While being ultra-chic, as a plus, they also protect your eyes from the sun! And if they are dark enough, you can stare at people, and no one will be the wiser...

The Scarf. Be it triangle, rectangle, long, thin, fat, a chain, hand knit, crocheted, scarfs are definately another free for all. Just throw one on, wrap it around your neck, when your outfit needs a pop of colour, or just throw one on anyways. One can never have enough scarfs. And vintage scarfs are usually very, very cheap, so pick some up. Also, I have to say, even though I absolutely despise pink... I really like that pink dress...

The Belt. When something is loose or baggy, just throw a belt around it. Use it to hold up a skirt, hold in layers, or just as decoration. You could stick with the basic brown leather belt, or get a patent or colourful one to add a pop of colour. Very versatile, and you should probably have one The Shoulder Bag. Better than a purse, and easier to carry. Put your lipstick, hair brush, etc. in this. I want one!

The Thrifter: Coats

Some examples of the many different coats that thrifter's wear. Most coats are in neutral colours, because they have to be very versatile. They can have some awesome unique details. But a pop of colour is sometimes very awesome too.
The Leather Jacket. Usually black, dark brown, or faded brown, are the best choices for this piece. The design is usually simple, with maybe one or two quirky twists. Because leather jackets are generally associated with hardcore people, you might want to make it more girly by pairing it with a printed scarf, or a dress.

The Vest. Very versatile, and menswear-ish. Is a good layering element; can be worn under coats, over shirts, etc. My favourite look is pairing an open black vest with a plain white t-shirt. This works on both guys and girls!

The Fur Coat. Only consider wearing a fur coat if it is vintage. Do not buy one new. I am telling you. For the animals' sakes. You see, if you buy one new, you are promoting the killing of animals for their furs, but if you purchase a vintage one, you are making use of something that would have otherwise gone to waste.

The Blazer. Can be shrunken, fitted, or oversized. Can be a men's, a woman's, or even a child's blazer. Some of the best shrunken blazers are found in the children's section. Blazers are basically a free for all. You can wear them in almost any pattern or print! So have fun with it!

The Oversized Cardigan. This sweater just oozes comfort, and lazy chic-ness. It can casually just be thrown over anything. It is usually just a plain colour. I would say that your best bets are black, navy, or grey. Something I definately want!

The Thrifter: Tops

Thrifters wear a variety of tops, of course. But there are some basics, I think, that are in everybody's wardrobe.
The Floral Printed Shirt. Is usually button up, with a collar. Will usually also have a colourful flower print on it. Can be tucked in, belted, or left as is.
The Plain Shirt. Can be a tank top, a t-shirt, a long sleeve, a v-neck, etc. To make it be able to go with everything, it should be a neutral colour, like white, black, grey, or brown, but colour is also welcomed. A necessary wardrobe staple.

The Band T-shirt. These are usually not thrifted, but many thrifters have them anyways. They are good to be worn with shrunken blazers and oversized cardigans. But make sure you actually listen to the band before you wear the t-shirt! I'd also like to add that I absolutely love this outfit, especially the colour scheme.

The Lumberjack Shirt. Is usually button up with a collar, and a bit oversized. Will usually have some kind of checkered or plaid pattern on it. Can also be left unbuttoned and worn as a coat. I want one of these!

The Thrifter: Bottom Half

A variety of things are worn on the bottom half. I think that it is really hard to thrift a good pair of jeans, so they might be purchased at a cheap store such as H and M or Cheap Monday. Anyways, here are some basic bottoms:
The Leggings. Of course. As of two or three years ago, a basic wardrobe staple. Can be black, or red, or purple. They can be any pattern or colour under the rainbow! They can be worn with dresses, skirts, shorts, or just as bottoms (not too see through though). If this isn't enough incentive to get/own a pair, then I don't know what is. And I also have to add that I absolutely love this mini-dress!

The High-Waisted Skirt/Short. Very versatile, and a true wardrobe staple. Even if a skirt is not ment to sit at the waists, you can probably pull it up there, and wrap a belt around it. Tops look better when tucked in to these kind of clothing. Definately worth buying!

The Skinny Jean. Of course. The be all and end all. This can be paired with anything. And I mean anything. These should usually be bought from a store, not thrifted, to get the perfect fit. They should be super skinny. They best washes are usually either dark indigo, or grey. I have also seen really light blue jeans, and acid wash jeans work too. You can also cuff them, as shown in one of the pictures above, to add an edge.

The Thrifter: Shoes

We are going to start from the bottom up. For many of these posts, I might use some of the same pictures, because they are good examples. But anyways, here is some examples of shoes:

The Oxford/Plain Shoe. These shoes are usually very simple. They are classic colours, usually brown, white, or black. They can be leather, or canvas. I really want a pair of these because they are able to go with anything, which cannot really be said for the rest of my shoe wardrobe. These are something I will definately be looking for!

The Flat Boot. This boot is usually flat, and either hits around the knee, or at mid-calf. It can be a range of colours, from tan, to brown, to caramel to black, to red, as pictured here. They can be really simple, or they can have details such as buckles, and fringes. I love these kind of boots, mostly because they are flat heeled.

The Ankle Boot. Only recently becoming a staple, the ankle boot has hit the fashion world hard (I believe :P). Though I find them extremely and utterly cute, I will most likely not be wearing any, because of the heel, unless I find them for really cheap.

Turning Over a New-ish Leaf

I've come to a break through! I've decided to start thrifting! With my limited budget it seems like a great idea. Also I have been looking at pictures of bloggers such as Style Bytes, and Sally Jane Vintage, and I realize I just love their personal style. From what I see, there seems to be a few key items in a thrifter's wardrobe, something that all of them have and wear. Since I am really busy right now, I might not be able to get to any thrift stores any time soon, but I will be there as soon as I can!
This will probably end up taking alot of posts, and be spread out alot, so just bear with me.

Red Hair and Brown Eyes

Lately I've been itching for a hair change. Since I have to save cutting my hair short until my braces have been on and off, I figured maybe dying my hair red might do it. I've done it with semi-permanent colour before. But I want it to look natural if I go permanent, so I tried to find pictures of natural looking brown eyed red heads, so maybe I can recreate their hair colour. Here's what I found:

I think that Converse are probably the best sneakers ever made. Their prints are so original, so random, something I greatly appreciate. I've been wanting to buy some high tops for forever, but have to suffice with my current awesomely awesome low tops:

Finally, I have found the perfect pair of gladiators! After searching for excess of a year, I have found a simple, beautiful, affordable pair. It seems like after all these years I am finally hitting jackpot. See said shoes below:

I just ordered these from the Aldo website. They were only $60, with free shipping, so I thought that that was pretty awesome. They were in European sizing, and I used a converter, so hopefully they fit.

There was also some cute gladiators I found at miashoes.com, and even at Old Navy.

Gladiators are just so simple and chic, a great alternative to my normal $2 flip flops. You can wear them with shorts, cargo pants, dresses. I've even seen people pull off the look with skinny jeans. I can't wait until mine arrive!
